Birth Classes
Childbirth Education customized for you and your situation.
All classes can take place on video call or within an hour of Portland, ME.
Private / Individualized Birth Class - $400-$500 sliding scale
4-8 hours, over 1-4 sessions (your choice!)
Individualized means we make it work for you! Schedule 4 weekly sessions, or dive in over a weekend! We spend time discussing everything you want to know about birth, and maybe some things you didn’t know you didn’t know.
I support you in creating your birth plan or preferences so you feel informed and empowered going into your labor, birth, and postpartum experience.
While this can be customized to your specifics, fear not if you don’t know what it is you’d like to know. Many people say “tell me what I should know”, and I’ve got you.
My standard childbirth ed course will cover:
- late pregnancy concerns
- the different stages of labor
- coping techniques and comfort measures
- common situations, procedures, and interventions
- partner support
- what the immediate postpartum period looks like.
I will discuss with you the options you have, and support you in finding a way to vocalize your preferences to your provider. We will also cover the fourth trimester - those first few months after baby is born.
Build-your-own-group Birth Class - $325 / family
Four week series / 3 hours per session
or
One 7 hour day (6 hours class time, with a lunch break)
Could be held on Zoom, or in person (within 2 hrs of Portland, ME)
This class is ideal for those looking for community and comradeship as you prepare for labor and birth.
Together we discuss the nitty gritty of birth, from how to time contractions, to what it feels like when your water breaks, to what the 1st hour after baby arrives looks like. I encourage partners to attend the class to gain insight into how to support the birthing person.
As you learn more about labor and birth you will feel confident developing a birth plan, or a list of preferences, that will help to guide you in having the experience you desire.
