Hi, I’m Fiona!
Do you want candid photos that embrace and celebrate your real and raw life?
Great, me too!
My favorite way to capture photos (and to be in them!) has always been candids. In a professional photography sense this is called documentary or lifestyle photography. I’m not much for posing, although I will gently guide you if you are feeling a little lost in front of the camera. My main focus will always be finding those moments that are already happening, and the perspective that you don’t always get to see.
Birth work brought me here
While I have always enjoyed taking photos (and am the designated large-group selfie-taker due to my long arms), it was working as a doula and a childbirth educator that inspired me to invest in the tools and skills to take more lasting images.
Being pregnant, giving birth, caring for a new baby (and your own new body) are all such powerful pieces of our lives, and while they affect us deeply, they go by in the blink of an eye.
My mission is to fully embrace whatever stage you are in - no matter how awkward, trying, or mundane it may seem to you. We will look back and wonder how these babies got so big.
These images are for you to remember your little ones and this transformational time, and for them, as well, to see how you cared for them in their first years.
Let’s talk about the process
-
1.
Choose your session type. Would you prefer an in-home session, or to meet at an outdoor location?
-
2.
Use the online scheduler to book your session, sign the contract, and pay the deposit, or send an email with questions before scheduling.
-
3.
After you book, I will email you to finalize all the details and give you info about how to prepare for our session.
-
4.
I will send your photos within 3 weeks of our session. Galleries include all the best images from our session as digital downloads, with the option to purchase prints as desired.
This is your Story. I’m here to help you tell it.
We’re a good fit if…
You want photos of your family being who you are together. Not photos of everyone posed perfectly and smiling at the camera. (Although we get plenty of spontaneous smiles!)
You know these fleeting moments are worth documenting, however chaotic and messy they may seem.
You’re ready to not judge or ridicule your body — but to admire and embrace everything you are.
-
My personal opinion is that you should wear whatever you would normally wear. However, I know some people like to get a little more ‘ready’ and that’s fine too! Once you are on the schedule I will give some guidance on outfit ideas for your session type and location.
-
That’s part of real life, isn’t it! I have tricks up my sleeve to get kids and toddlers to chuckle. Letting them run around, and playing games often helps. And if sleepy snuggles are what we get, that’s perfect too!

In home and outdoor sessions are within a 30 minute drive of Portland, Maine. If you live farther away, I may still be available, with a travel fee.

I host Mini-Session days seasonally that you can look out for! Otherwise, individually scheduled sessions are an hour long.
